Reassurance scan
The standard reassurance scan can be booked if you want “a little peek” and a few cute images.
The extended reassurance scan is the same as a growth scan at the hospital. It provides information about the fetus’s weight, as well as the placenta’s function and the amount of amniotic fluid. If you wish, we can also measure the cervix length.

There can be a long gap between the 20-week scan and birth. We therefore recommend a reassurance scan with us. If you come multiple times, we can track the baby’s growth on the charts in our system, using the same program that hospitals use.

The scan is performed on the abdomen. The baby’s head circumference, abdominal circumference, and femur length are measured. This provides an estimate of the weight in grams as well as a percentile compared to the average. Blood flow in the umbilical cord and the brain is assessed, giving information about the placenta’s function. The amount of amniotic fluid is also evaluated.
